Admission to the event is free. Although admission is free, FOFA members enjoy early-bird admission to the Flea from 9-10 a.m. Public admission is from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
The Folk Art Flea supports MOIFA’s excellent education programs and world-class exhibitions such as La Cartonería Mexicana / The Mexican Art of Paper and Paste, Staff Picks: Favorites from the Collection, and Between the Lines: Prison Art & Advocacy. Funds raised at the Flea will have a lasting impact on the Museum and all the diverse communities it serves.
“The Folk Art Flea is a Santa Fe favorite; people come back year after year for the great selection and bargain prices,” said Marcia Lenihan, co-chair of the Flea. “You’re sure to find a wonderful new addition to your collection, your wardrobe or your home.”
Each year patrons, collectors and folk art lovers donate a broad selection of gently used textiles, clothing, ceramics, masks, wood carvings, paintings, sculpture, jewelry and more from around the world to be sold at the Folk Art Flea. Shoppers can take home their own folk art treasures and support the MOIFA at the same time.
The Folk Art Flea is the largest fundraising activity of the Friends of Folk Art (FOFA). Over the past 12 years, the Flea has raised over $900,000 in support of the museum. “Shopping the Folk Art Flea is such a great way to support the Museum of International Folk Art.,” noted Linda O’Leary, Co-chair of the Flea.
The Flea can’t be held without the amazing donations made by generous folk art fans from around Santa Fe. FOFA now accepts donated items for the Flea year-round; simply call 505-476-1201 to arrange a drop-off or pick-up.
