SANTA FE, NM –The Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department (EMNRD) Mining
and Minerals Division (MMD) announces the launch of the New Mexico Uranium Mines
Dashboard, intended to provide the public with quick access to data on legacy uranium mines
throughout the state. The dashboard compiles data from a variety of sources into one location,
making it easier for the public to find information about legacy uranium mining in New Mexico.
Built by MMD staff, the database includes mines that had verifiable uranium production, and
that have been abandoned, may no longer be maintained, and are inactive.

“Presenting the full scope of legacy mining in New Mexico is a monumental task, but the
publication of the New Mexico Uranium Mines Dashboard provides a comprehensive picture of
one area of New Mexico’s mining history,” said MMD Director Jerry Schoeppner.

There are thousands of abandoned mines and mining features across New Mexico, the uranium dashboard provides a snapshot into one type of mining activity.Within the dashboard, users can search by address, use current location, or select points on the map to learn more about a given location or area. A user guide is available to help the public navigate the functionality.

The dashboard application was developed in partnership with the Environmental Systems
Research Institute (ESRI), which will run in most browsers including Chrome, Internet
Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, and Safari. MS Edge, Firefox, and Safari will provide the user
with the highest quality experience to view the dashboard. No additional plugins are necessary
to run the application. Map projection is Web Mercator Auxiliary Sphere 1984.
